Winter Cocktail Recipe: Tequila Kissed Mexican Hot Chocolate
Winter has her hold on us and she does not show any signs of letting go. Why not warm up the winter chill with a little spice and sweet from a Mexican Hot Chocolate?
This twist on the traditional hot cocoa has the sweet from the chocolate, spice from the chili and creaminess from the milk. I love the little unexpected kick that comes from the chili with the sweet chocolate. This Mexican hot chocolate cocktail recipe can be made alcohol-free or with a kiss of tequila. Just be sure to serve in mugs and be prepared for everyone to ask for more.
Mexican Hot Chocolate Recipe
- 1 pack of Hot Cocoa mix
- 1½ ounces tequila
- 1/2 tablespoon sugar
- 1 pinch cayenne powder
- 1 pinch salt
- Marshmallows/whipped cream
Prepare hot chocolate according to package directions. If you are not counting the calories we suggest you make this with low fat milk and not water. In a mug, stir together 4½ ounces hot chocolate, tequila, sugar, cayenne and salt. Once everything is mixed together top with marshmallows or a dollop of whipped cream.
A great party or entertaining idea is to make a large batch of this Mexican Hot Chocolate and keep it simmering in a crock pot. Just be sure to keep the tequila out until you decide to serve it in a mug. This will make it perfect for anyone that is having a cozy mugful especially your designated drivers.
