National Tequila Day Cocktail Recipes: Blackberry Blue Nectar Bramble
All this week, Busy Bee Blogger is celebrating National Tequila Day (officially July 24th but who’s keeping track really?), with tequila cocktail recipes. Today, we have the Blackberry Blue Nectar Bramble. Most would not consider blackberry tied in with tequila, but this combination is a wonderful change.

While the Blackberry Bramble is traditionally made with gin, bourbon is often used instead for a deeper flavor. Blue Nectar Reposado is the perfect alternative with its smooth, light oak wood character.
Blackberry Blue Nectar Bramble
2 oz. Blue Nectar Reposado
¾ oz. lemon juice
1 tsp. simple syrup
½ oz. blackberry liqueur
3-5 blackberries as garnish
Place all liquid ingredients into a tumbler filled with crushed ice and stir well. Garnish with blackberries.
This is a nice change of pace from your typical margarita for tequila day. Now, do not get me wrong, I really do enjoy a good margarita. The good pucker from the lime mixed with a nice smokey taste of the tequila is almost always great on a Southern California evening. But do not think that tequila can only be enjoyed with citrus. It goes well with sweeter flavors and even chocolates and coffee flavors. In this blackberry blue nectar bramble, the blackberry liqueur mixed with citrus juice is a wonderful combination. A little unexpected but still delicious.
Give it a try and let me know what you thought of it!
