Get those frosted glasses ready for National Daiquiri Day. Blue Chair Bay Rum Strawberry Basil Recipe
Tomorrow, Friday July 19th is national daiquiri day, and it couldn’t be here soon enough. Is there any better way for a pinup to beat this oppressive heat than with a nice cold cocktail? Maybe if I was lying on a white sand beach somewhere with my toes in the sand with Kenny Chesney. That might make it a little better. But a nice cold daiquiri is tops.
Luckily for me, I can at least put my feet in my kiddie pool listening to Chesney on the radio sipping a daiquiri made with his rum.
That’s right, Kenny Chesney just launched a personal line of spirits called Blue Chair Bay Rum. The product (White, Coconut, Coconut Spiced) is delicious and, better yet, not a celebrity endorsement. Kenny dreamt up and funded the entire venture himself.
Well then, Kenny, since you put in all that work, don’t mind if I do.
Blue Chair Bay Rum Strawberry Basil Daiquiri
2 oz. Blue Chair Bay Rum
3/4 oz. fresh lime juice
3/4 oz. simple syrup
1 strawberry, sliced
2 basil leaves
Directions: Muddle the strawberry and basil in the lime juice and simple syrup. Add Blue Chair Bay rum and ice and shake well. Strain into a martini glass.
Garnish: floating basil leaf
You can blend this with ice if you like, or just have it chilled. Either way, it is a great way to enjoy the summer heat.
