George Clooney Arrested During Protest
Ah, the glamour of being a big Hollywood star, standing up for your cause and getting arrested. Well, not really, but George Clooney was arrested outside of the Sudanese embassy in Washington, D.C. earlier this morning, along with his dad, Nick. (And he looks damn good in handcuffs, just like you knew he would. I don’t have rights to the photo but you can see it here)
*NOTE George and his dad Nick were not arrested for their protesting outside of the Sudanese embassy. They were arrested for crossing a police line. A misdemeanor offense.*
Clooney’s publicist Stan Rosenfield tells TMZ, “They were protesting the violence committed by the government of Sudan on its own innocent men, women and children. They were demanding they allow humanitarian aid into the country before it becomes the largest humanitarian crisis in the world.”
Sources connected with George tell us he feels good about the arrest because it puts the spotlight on the crisis.
The fighting in Sudan has been a pet project for Clooney for years, now. And unlike many Hollywood flakes he is educates himself on the topic, and doesn’t get preachy about it.
The Clooneys were arrested along with a dozen other people, including congressmen, leaders of the human rights community, Sudanese citizens, and Martin Luther King III.
