De Luz Fire Still Burns On Camp Pendleton In SoCal (video)
The sky this morning was filled with pink clouds, but on Saturday the sky looking North was filled with grey/brown smoke as I headed to Vista after work. There was a HUGE fire on Camp Pendleton, dubbed the DeLuz fire, and as of this morning, it’s still going.
On Saturday, the fire prompted the evacuation of Camp Pendleton’s O’Neill Heights housing units to the Paige Fieldhouse, according to the base Public Affairs Office. People were allowed to return to their homes Sunday night.
In all, 230 residents were evacuated from base housing, according to officials.
While evacuees headed to the Paige Fieldhouse, their pets could be dropped off, free of charge, at the Bark Avenue Resort and Kamp at 655 Benet Rd. in Oceanside.
Officials said residents should be aware that the fire is ongoing, so emergency vehicles will remain in the area. Officials also said that if O’Neill Heights residents discover any type of property damage to their units as a result of the fire, they should report it to their housing manager.[NBCSanDiego.com]
Please remember those of us in SoCal are still under a red flag warning and I believe that the Santa Anas are still in full effect. This makes for fires. Don’t smoke with your arm out the window, and don’t throw your cigarete butts out the window of your car!! If barbecuing in this warm weather please watch sparks. Be careful with the lawn equipment too. Sometimes you can hit a rock, cause a spark, and off it goes.
Be safe little bees.
