World Cup Recipes – Team USA Style Pasta Salad
Team USA goes head to head with Team Germany this morning for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Most of us will be at work during the game, but that does not mean we cannot celebrate and watch online with bated breath. Why not bring a fun red white and blue pasta dish to eat for lunch, or to make tonight in celebration.
This red white and blue pasta dish is also great for the 4th of July! We all love the burgers, and hot dogs with the side of potato salad, but why not bring something they have not tried yet.
RECIPE AFTER THE JUMP!
Cooked and cooled Cheese “Delicato” Tortellini
Halved Cherry Tomatoes
Fresh Mozzarella pieces
Grated Parmigiano Reggiano
Dress with Red Wine Vinegar and Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Did you catch that? There is something in there that you probably did not notice. This Giovanni Rava tortellini dish brings the red white and blue colors of the American flag together in a rather unexpected way. Halved tomatoes, mozzarella and BLUEBERRIES! Do not knock it. Blueberries are not over powering in their sweetness and since this dish is served cool or room temperature they will hold their texture pretty well. And they are full of vitamins and antioxidants so you can tell yourself this dish is completely good for you so why not have a few extra bites.
I put fruit in my salads a lot of the time, so the idea of a handful of blueberries in my pasta sounds great. Especially with the cheese and maybe some light salt and pepper. Make a big batch of this if you are watching the FIFA World Cup game later, or bring it to your 4th of July barbecue and be the star of the show.
