AMC Interviews "Duck Phillips" Mark Moses

A drunk Duck Phillips (Mark Moses)  takes down the champ, Don Draper as Peggy Olson(Elisabeth Moss) looks on in Episode 7 Season 4 “The Suitcase”.

AMC sat down with Mark Moses who plays Duck Phillips for a little interview.  Mark talks about the skill of acting drunk, wooing Peggy, beating up Jon Hamm, and taking his pants of on screen.

Q: When did you find out Duck would be coming back for the fourth season?

A: I found out a little before they started the season. I’m never quite sure when he’s going to come back and what form he’s going to be coming back in, but Matt [Weiner] said they wanted to have Duck back. I think with Duck, you’re never quite sure if he’s gonna be together or if he’s gonna be drinking.

Q: Is it fun to play Duck when he’s embarrassingly drunk? What does your technique entail?

A: It’s interesting, because [in the Clios] episode he had a speech that we played around with quite a bit in post-production, just trying to determine exactly how drunk he was — whether he was slurring drunk or sloppy drunk. We came up with something that’s pretty perfect, but it was trickier than I thought. It’s easier to play totally schnockered than to play just tipsy or kind of drunk.

Elisabeth Moss on her Emmy Must Have

The newly single Elisabeth Moss is NOMINATED for her role as Peggy Olson on Mad Men for the Emmy’s tonight. While we’ll be checking out her dress, and jewels, she has another accessory MUST HAVE!

“You always have to have a little protein bar in your purse,”

“The ceremony is like four hours, with the red carpet and everything – so it could be like a six-hour thing. And then it takes a while to get to the dinner afterward, et cetera. So it’s super-important to try to carry a little something in your bag. I sneak and eat it during the commercial breaks,” she explained to Parade. [via Celebrity News Now]

No kidding! Six hours without food? After weeks of not eating to look good on the red carpet? Oh honey, I’d need more than a protein bar.

So what is the hardest part of the whole red carpet experience for Ms. Moss? The JEWELRY!

“I remember wearing a ring once, I think, that was half a million dollars. And I was checking it all night long. I was pretty nervous about it. And the man came the next morning at like 9am and knocked on my door and took it back – it’s definitely hard to give it back!”

I guess it would be like Cinderella knowing the coach would be a pumpkin again at the end of the night. :-( I really hope that Elisabeth gets the nod tonight. Her role as Peggy Olson on Mad Men is MAKING the show worth watching. LOVE HER!

Mad Men Sneak Peek episode 4 Directed by John Slattery!

Last week’s Mad Men was all sorts of random. For new year’s Don headed to California to see “Don’s” wife, who is dying of cancer and doesn’t know it. Joan and Greg were dealing with the uncertainty of him leaving to Vietnam. Lane and his wife seem to be splitting, so when Don got back, the bachelor party began, complete with hookers.

This week’s episode “The Rejected” is directed by John Slattery (aka Roger Sterling). It marks the entry into 1965, and the return of, Ken Cogrove! Not sure of the extent that he is going to be shown, but we learn he’s getting married and is still landing big accounts.

And if the commercials on AMC are any indication, there’s a diamond ring in Peggy’s future. Interesting…
