Don’t fret anyone! Christopher Meloni is NOT leaving Law & Order SVU!
After the quote that came out in Febuary,
“I think 12 years is enough, a good number,” “The writers will have fertile ground to figure out how to arc [Eliot] out to another place — whether it’s this world or the next.” [source]
You can see how people might have thought he was quitting after 12 years on the show. Ends up it was all a big misunderstanding.
But Meloni explained to Us [Magazine]: “What I said was ‘When your contract is done…that will be the end. Because when your contract is done, it’s usually the end,” he said. “But when [producers] come back to me, you know, we can always talk.’ I couched it incorrectly. It wasn’t [the reporter's] fault.”
To set the record straight, the star clarified: “I had one year [left] on my contract. Our show hasn’t been picked up. Those are the facts of the matter.”
YAY! I would miss Meloni and Mariska Hargitay’s play off each other.
