When Elisabeth Moss had a quickie marriage to SNL’s Fred Armisen, this little Southern California pinup was a little worried. But you know, I hear love is a good thing so what do I know. Then came their divorce in 2010, just 8 months after their wedding, and the rumors of Fred’s infidelity and that he was CRAZY pants.
Elisabeth is finally opening up, kind of, about her celebrity marriage, and it is not a good thing.
“Looking back, I feel like I was really young, and at the time I didn’t think that I was that young,” Moss explains in the March 10 issue of New York magazine. “It was extremely traumatic and awful and horrible.”
She continues, “At the same time, it turned out for the best. I’m glad that I’m not there. I’m glad that it didn’t happen when I was 50. I’m glad I didn’t have kids. And I got that out of the way. Hopefully. Like, that’s probably not going to happen again.”
Now, when the split was announced, Elisabeth’s star was on the rise. She had been nominated for an Emmy for her work as Peggy Olson on Mad Men. That made her PERFECT tabloid fodder.
“I always knew that the stuff that you read is not true, but when I was in the situation and you really, actually read things that you apparently said or did that are 100 percent made up … It’s just the strange, simple thing of, that’s your heart they’re talking about, and it just … it sucks.”
But she admits that she understands America’s fascination with fame: “I enjoy a little gossip. I like looking at photos of celebrities going to Starbucks.”
It is too bad that the interviewer even went there about her marriage to Armisen. Elisabeth Moss is such a good actress in her own right, and she should get more kudos for THAT!
