Looking at the San Marcos Cocos Fire from Carlsbad, CA

With 9 fires burning in San Diego area, many have been displaced. If you or yours have been evacuated from your homes, and do not have anywhere to go, there are shelters available for you. Some of the shelters even allow pets that are crated.

Four shelters remain open for people evacuated due to this week’s wildfires. Below is list of the locations and current number of people at each shelter.
-Escondido High School, 1435 N. Broadway in Escondido: 102 people
-Mission Hills High School, 1 Mission Hills Court in San Marcos;115 people
-Calavera Hills Community Center, 2997 Glasgow Drive in Carlsbad: 15 people
-La Costa Canyon High School, 1 Maverick Way in Carlsbad: 10 people
There are also about 80 dogs, cats and birds among the two shelters that take small animals, Escondido High School and Mission Hills High School.
