Patty Andrews, last of the Andrews Sisters, Passed Away
The Andrews Sisters, Patty Andrews is in the center.
Somewhere there’s a Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy playing taps. The last of the Andrews Sisters, Patty Andrews, passed away January 30th. Here home was here in Southern California, Northridge. She was 94 years old.
Wow, go Patty! She’s singing the solo in Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B
You may not readily know who the Andrews Sisters are, but if you are into retro music at, especially the WWII style swing, or the let’s rally the troops, type of music, then you DEFINITELY know the Andrews Sisters. They were famous for their Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B (which when covered by Bette Midler helped their career resurgence), Chattanooga Choo Choo, Rum and Coca Cola, but they also sang on 47 songs with Bing Crosby.
I remember them mostly from their Christmas music, especially Jingle Bells with Bing.
These women were certainly pin ups for many around the world, and entertained the troops, and those back home for decades.
