Hairstyle How To – Beach Waves With Coconut Oil

nutiva ocean spray hair style

There are days where I know that in the morning I am not going to want to do my hair. My favorite hair trick that I learned years ago is how to get some style from what you do the night before. To get some style to my hair if I am not going to be putting it up in a pony tail or sock bun, is to spray it with Nutiva Coconut Oil Ocean Hair Spray the night before. I will usually then put my hair in braids or a loose bun. It gives my hair some texture and movement and I all really need to do int he morning is to comb it out.

What I did last night was to spray my hair all over with the Ocean Hair Spray, and make small braids all over. This morning, I took out the braids, and it left my hair wavy all over. I then clipped back the bangs off to the side. I really like this look, and it fits our Southern California lifestyle fashion in my office quite well. We are pretty laid back here, but I still want to look like I put some effort into how I look.

Want to make your own Ocean Hair Spray? This recipe includes Nutiva Coconut Oil that helps keep my hair soft. Most salt strays make my hair a little dried out, but the addition of the coconut oil makes my hair soft. The spray also has a great coconut smell to it that makes me think I am at the beach all day.

Ocean Hair Spray
Use this ocean-in-a-bottle spray for gorgeous beach hair. Salt water provides texture and coconut oil provides moisture and nourishment for dry hair.

Ingredients:
3 tsp Nutiva Organic Coconut Oil
4oz Purified Water, warm
3 tsp Sea Salt
4 drops Rosemary Essential Oil

Directions:
1. Put coconut oil in an 8 oz canning jar and place in a pan filled with several inches of water. Melt the coconut oil over low heat. (My jar of coconut oil is already melted, since the house is at 78 degrees most of the time.)
2. Meanwhile, fill an 8 oz spray bottle about ¾ full with warm, purified water and add the sea salt. Stir until the sea salt is dissolve in the water.
3. Use a funnel to add the coconut oil and essential oil to the spray bottle.
4. Shake the bottle to incorporate. Then fill to the top with purified water.
Yields 8 oz. Sometimes the oil solidifies. If this happens, run the bottle under hot water and it will melt. Shake the product and it’s ready to use.

To use: Shake the bottle and spray 2-5 pumps on damp hair. Try different amounts to see what works best for your hair.
