Cocktail Thursday: Candy Cane Cooler
Christmas Holiday Cocktail Recipe
This holiday season just begs for its own line of cocktails. Nothing pronounces winter and the holiday season louder than the candy cane. The peppermint flavor and iconic red and white stripes bring to mind of happy holiday memories. This Christmas season cocktail is full of tastes and colors for the holiday. With vodka, brandy and creme de menthe the winter cocktail brings a very adult version of the candy cane to your next party for everyone to enjoy.
Candy Cane Cooler Cocktail Recipe
1 tbs crushed soft peppermint candy
1½ fl oz vodka
splash of white creme de menthe
¼ fl oz brandy
½ fl oz half-and-half
Peppermint stick for garnish
Mint sprig for garnish
Combine the vodka and crushed peppermint. Stir to dissolve. Add the remaining ingredients, stir and garnish.
These would look lovely in a low tumbler or even in copper mugs usually reserved for Cuba libres or Moscow mules. Especially with the sprig of mint of the peppermint candy cane sticking out of the top. Be sure to have all of the copper mugs or glass tumblers out displayed for everyone to see when they come into the party. I just think they look so pretty all in a row together, especially the shiny copper mugs. You do not need to have the cocktails pre-made but having the glasses in a row on a table or counter top adds a bit of a decorative touch to your affair.
What are you favorite flavors of the holiday season? Do you add creme de menthe to any other classic cocktails during Christmas time, or do you stick to the classics?
