We have given new contributor, Jon, free reign in his coverage of Vancouver and the 2010 Winter Olympics. So enjoy!
I have to say that it is strange having watched so many Olympics on television and seeing the sporting side of the events and the short shots of the city and area that it’s being held in and now being in the middle of it is very different. It’s going to be interesting to see how the media presents Vancouver. I wonder what landmarks they are going to pick to show the world what Vancouver is like? I know what Vancouver is to me and I’m interested in what the world wide media will show off.

I have to tell you, I’m usually not one for people who call themselves “artists”. So when someone is good at it, and DOESN’T call themself an “artist” I am more than likely to promote them.
Nina is a San Diego artist, (my word for her work) whose work is cards. She does other work, but she’s prolific in mulitmedia cards. I know, not what you would expect.
Anyways, I love her work (the above card belongs to me), and I HIGHLY SUGGEST you zip on over to her own site VoicesInMyBigHead
There you have it, a good artist.
OH! And she’s Ruth66 from Dave Shelly and Chainsaw.

Photographs by Antonin Kratochvil.
Philanthropic Business Model (RED) has been in working mode now for one year. And while some do not believe that it’s worth while, people are living because of it.
Photojournalist Antonin Kratochvil and writer Alex Shoumatoff traveled to Zambia and saw the effects of the ARV drugs working with the people living with this terrible disease.
I urge you to read this Vanity Fair article, whether you support (RED) or not.
The idea behind (Red) is simple: participating companies, which so far include American Express, Apple, Armani, Gap, Motorola, and Converse (a subsidiary of Nike), sell (Red)-branded products. Forty percent of the gross profits from those sales go to providing free ARVs to Africans with aids. As the Web site Joinred.com puts it in its bluntly worded manifesto:
(Red) is not a charity. It is simply a business model. You buy (Red) stuff. We get the money, buy the pills and distribute them. They take the pills, stay alive and continue to take care of their families and contribute socially and economically in their communities.

Hey all
I hope you can take this day off. I’m working, hence the low post volume, but will be back tonight.
But, in light of working, enjoy this website… and leave a post of your own about the terrible people you work with

Kisses!

Hey all
With a lot of people taking Monday off, I thought that you might like to know some things to do.
One of San Diego’s hippest clubs/restaurants is having a Labor Day event. Yeah I know, so is everyone else. But with Stingaree, they are giving back to Habitat for Humanity. How cool is that?!?!
I’m so there
