December 1 is world AIDS Day. And Starbucks and (RED) have teamed up to do a little good with your daily hot of espresso.
Starting November 27 till January 2, every time you buy a (STARBUCKS)RED Exclusive beverage:
Espresso Truffle
Gingersnap Latte
or Peppermint Twist Mocha
from participating Starbucks locations, well give 5¢ to the Global Fund to help save lives in Africa.
And in support of World AIDS Day on December 1, well donate 5¢ of every hand-crafted beverage we sell that day. That’s EVERY mocha, egg nog latte, whatever!!! Not just the espresso truffle, gingersnap latte and Peppermint twist mocha that make donations the rest of the time!!! How cool is that?!?!?!
As Bono said, “It’s pretty mind-blowing to think that millions of people can buy (RED) going about their daily lives and in doing so raise millions of dollars to fight AIDS in Africa. That’s not a bad hit from your caffeine.”
Starbucks and (RED) today announced a multi-year partnership that will give coffee lovers a chance to do good every day.
Throughout the holiday season, Starbucks will contribute five cents from the sale of any of (Starbucks) RED Exclusive beverage (the three beverages that make up the Starbucks popular holiday trio) at all of their US and Canadian stores to the Global Fund to invest in AIDS programs in Africa.
“(RED) is making remarkable progress in the worldwide effort to address AIDS in Africa,” said Howard Schultz, Starbucks chairman, president and CEO. “We have a deep partnership with coffee growing regions in Africa. We are proud to partner with our customers to contribute toward an AIDS-free Africa.”
Schultz joined Bono, co-founder of (RED), for today’s announcement in front of 10,000 Starbucks partners (employees) at the company’s 2008 Leadership Conference in New Orleans.
“(RED) is coming to a corner near you thanks to Starbucks. I’m very excited to be able to say that,” said Bono, co-founder of (RED). “The business of Starbucks with roots in Africa and branches all over the world is an ideal fit for (RED). It’s pretty mind-blowing to think that millions of people can buy (RED) going about their daily lives and in doing so raise millions of dollars to fight AIDS in Africa. That’s not a bad hit from your caffeine.”
(Starbucks) RED Exclusive Holiday beverages go on sale November 27, 2008 and continue through January 2, 2009.
What’s new pussycat? Tom Jones’ new CD!!!! YAY!!!!!!!! I became a fan of Tom Jones during grad school, and I annoy the crap out of my mom playing or singing it whenever I can. what’s wrong with a little She’s a Lady in the middle of the day?
Anywaaaaaaaaays, the CD with be Tom’s first in the US in 15 years! Holy cow! His last CD released was in 2000 but it was not released in the US. SEX BOMB was on that CD, and I suggest you go to I Tunes and download it. DO IT NOW
THe new CD, 24 HOURS , will be out November 25th, with some interesting help. Bono and The Edge from U2 helped him with some of the songs on the new album. Mr. Jones wanted to go for a retro sound ala Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black.
“The fire is still in me,” Jones told The Associated Press in a recent interview, speaking by phone from his home in Los Angeles. “Not to be an oldie, but a goodie. I want to be a contender.”
“We’ve been thinking about this for a while, doing a retro sound but new,” said Jones. “And Amy Winehouse, she cracked it. When that album came out, my son called me right away and said, `You know what we’ve been talking about? Listen to this.’”
Put this in the who knows if this is true file, but cool if it was. Rumor has it that Angelina Jolie and her baby daddy Brad Pitt have asked, Bono of U2 to be the godfather of their newest additions, Vivienne and Knox. Bono is already the godfather to The Edge’s daughter Hollie who is 24.
“They have been friends for years. Brad is a massive U2 fan and told Bono how much he admired him when they were introduced at a party a few years back. Since then, they’ve become very close, which Brad is thrilled about. Angelina is inspired by Bono’s humanitarian work and gets on with his wife Ali Hewson. Ali’s given Angelina some clothes from her ethical clothing range Edun.”
The Jolie Pitts also stayed at Bono’s home in France for a while this summer. So it seems they’re friendly. But, I was wondering, don’t you have to have some sort of christening to have a godfather? I mean, I didn’t think that either Brad or Angelina were particularly religious. I guess that’s what having kids will do for you, traditions abound!
Yes, that was awful, but I couldn’t think of anything else funny. INF has made a compelation of their favorite Irish and Irish American hotties. I am so happy Bono made it!!
