Bastille Day Inspired Cocktails – Recipes

champgne cocktail bastille day recipeBastille Day Cocktail- The Marie Antoinette

Viva La France! Monday is Le quatorze juillet, Bastille Day, of France. Consider it as the French 4th of July, it is their independence day. Bastille Day marks the end of the monarchy of France and the start of the Republic.

To celebrate this day of freedom for my French friends, and Francophiles here in the states, I have a few French inspired cocktails. We have Champagne cocktails, absinthe, and more!

The Marie Antoinette
No cake required!

This is by far the most indulgent cocktail for the day. And if you don’t want to have a cocktail, the Laurent-Perrier Brut Champagne is exquisite on its own.

1 oz. CAMUS VS Elegance Cognac
¼ oz. raspberry liqueur
¼ oz. Laurent-Perrier Brut Champagne
Garnish with Chinese star anise

Combine CAMUS VS Elegance Cognac and raspberry liqueur in a Champagne flûte. Top with Laurent-Perrier Brut Champagne. Garnish with Chinese star anise and serve.

More BASTILLE DAY COCKTAILS,  including absinthe and Cognac, after the jump!

absinthe cocktail recipe
The Lafayette
Named after Marquis Lafayette (who also fought along side the Americans during the US revolution) this cocktail will be a winner with both French and American sippers.

1 oz. Lucid Absinthe
2 oz. pear nectar
½ oz. simple syrup
½ oz. lemon juice
handful of sliced cucumber

In a cocktail shaker add liquid ingredients and ice. Shake vigorously and strain over ice in a rocks glass, add cucumber wedges and serve.

If you want even more choices when it comes to inspired cocktails you could take any of the 4th of July red white and blue colored  cocktails and have those as well. Especially the Stars and Stripes Shooter that stays in the three colors in the glass.
