The new Superman movie, Man Of Steel, is set to bust open with over $100 Million this weekend. I was able to see the movie last night thanks to a friend.
So we got comfy and prepared to see the latest incarnation of Superman in Man Of Steel.
First off, Henry Cavill (Clark Kent) is fine eye candy. Looks an awful lot like Wolverine in some scenes though. Don’t know if that was on purpose. He does an adequate job showing the softer side of the character.
As for the movie itself, it is filled to the brim with names. Kevin Costner, Russell Crowe, Diana Lane, Amy Adams (enough Oscars and nominations for you yet?), Lawrence Fishburne, and Law & Order SVU’s Christopher Meloni, all carry this movie along. The acting was very well done. Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner were able to make me leave their gossip and drama filled real lives at the door and enjoy their characters. They, along with Diane Lane, and Christopher Meloni carried me through this movie. They really are all a pleasure to watch.
This story focuses more on Superman being from Krypton than previous versions of the Superman story. You are able to have an in depth look into where he came from, why his parents sent him away.
The only problem with the movie, was that there was a lack of interest in the characters. I almost fell asleep during one of the “action” scenes, too. Those were a bit predictable and drawn out with way too much CGI.
If the writers had spent half the time that Henry Cavill spent working out to get his Man Of Steel physique, the script would have matched the hype.
This was a good movie, but it was lacking in development. Don’t go hoping for a great movie, it was a good movie, but nothing really fantastic story-wise.
I did hear, though, that they are already making the next one, so hopefully they’ll get a little better with the development in that one.
