The Kevin Spacey Speech That Is Making The Rounds Is Awesome

Kevin Spacey has long been one of my favorite actors, and I was intrigued with the idea of him joining a “television” program on Netflix. Spacey is a long time MOVIE and THEATER actor, not TV! Yes, I know that the distinction between large and small screen don’t really matter to most actors, but Spacey is a bonafied movie actor, end of story.

Now with the series on Netflix causing a BIG stir on tradition TV (especially in the wake of the Time Warner/CBS debacle), Spacey comes out with the speech that puts it all out there in a way the industry may be hesitant to hear. (The Netflix series “House of Cards” is the first ever DIGITAL SERIES to receive Emmy nominations, and it received NINE this year!)

People are not watching TV in the tradition sense any longer. We DVR, we download and binge watch entire SEASONS or Series in a long weekend. We hear about shows from twitter, facebook or backyard barbecues. There are very few people that go into depth about a show, now, unless they know you’re caught up on the last episode.

The industry is changing at such a rate that they had better keep up. And I love that someone like Spacey is bringing it up. :-)

Check out his speech that has been making the industry rounds below. It’s fantastic.
