What’s “In” Now, Palm Springs Inspired Fashions
Palm Springs Weekend by Shag
Maybe it’s the heat, but I love a good Palm Springs inspired daydream. Palm Springs used to be the getaway for the rich and famous, where they scampered off to when Los Angeles just became too much of a hassle and Las Vegas was just too much work. Frank Sinatra and the like would lounge around in their pools (his was shaped like a piano) soaking in the desert sun with no one around but the ones they invited.
Now, Palm Springs is so built up I can barely see the mountains, but it is still a wonderful daydream. And it is the new inspiration for fashion houses! Banana Republic, Shabby Apple, and Mod Cloth all have lines inspired by Palm Springs this season. Shabby Apple even shot their “Twin Palms” and “Stardust Inn” lines at Frank Sinatras former home, next to the piano swimming pool.
It’s all about the light and breezy, bright colors (especially aquas and pink/orange combos), and crisp whites.
