Is Hollywood ready to welcome back Mel Gibson?

Well on Friday it seems as if most of Mad Mel’s legal troubles may be behind him.  But where does that leave his career?

With all the Oksana Griegorieva legal drama, including the eight months of verbal and supposed physical fight he had with his baby mama, instead of a felony, Mel Gibson was charged with a mere misdemeanor.   The good news for Mel Gibson is that instead of sitting in the slammer, he will serve 36 months of probation.

While many Hollywood movie companies vow to never hire Mel and his sassy mouth ever again, believe it or not, there are companies willing to take the plunge.  And having Hollywood peers on your side is as Martha Stewart says, “a good thing”.

Granted Mel hasn’t had a big fat flick raking in millions since 2002 but during this hot mess, Gibson’s longtime bud Jodie Foster has chosen to direct Mel for his comeback movie.  As a longtime friend, I am thinking it is safe to say that Foster has duct tape and knows how to use it.  Ok so here’s the deal…in just one week, The Beaver will premiere at the Southwest Film Festival in Austin.

Interestingly enough, Gibson plays a psychotic executive who according to IMDB, “adopts a beaver hand-puppet as his sole means of communicating.”

Well there couldn’t be a more fitting role for Mad Mel!   The question lies, is his former $25 million per picture salary just a painful memory?
