Christopher Meloni To Leave Law & Order SVU
I don’t even want to write this one. I’m in denial. But, after 12 years of playing detective Elliot Stabler on Law & Order: SVU, Christopher Meloni will be turning in his badge.
“I think 12 years is enough, a good number,” the actor is quoted as telling the Courier-Mail. Meloni isn’t sure whether his character will live or die, either. “The writers will have fertile ground to figure out how to arc [Eliot] out to another place — whether it’s this world or the next.”
“It will be a very difficult transition,” he admitted. “I mean, Jesus Christ, every day when you get used to getting up early and working these hours,” he said. [via US]
This world or the next?! Does that mean he want’s Elliot to DIE?!?! I can’t handle the idea of my boyfriend favorite Law & Order character being killed off! WAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!
But don’t cry too hard. Meloni’s counterpart on the show, Mariska Hargitay, who plays partner Olivia Benson says she will be staying on the show, but knows it will be difficult.
“I don’t think she could be without him. She loves him, he’s her other half,” she said emotionally.
How terribly depressing. Olivia having to go on without Elliot. I’m going to go turn on USA, TNT, or any of the other 500 channels SVU is on right now. Gee, next they’ll say that Munch is leaving!
GAH!

WTF! I’m in denial too! This has got ti be a cruel joke, this is my favorite show. He can’t just walk out on the SVU fans just like that, this is like a horrible break up. I mean, I see his point, but still. No, not Detective Stabler, I refuse to believe, I don’t want too. At least Mariska is not leaving the show. I think the show will still survive with just her but that’s a lot of weight to carry over her shoulders, it’s going to take a while for fans to get used to the idea, after all, Mariska and Meloni are the show. Man, this blows.
