This morning it was announced that President Obama had won the Nobel Peace Prize. Why?
“For his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between people.”
and
“The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations,” the citation said.
Rumor has it Obama was nominated two weeks after he had been sworn in as President of the United States.
Really?
So let me understand this, you don’t actually have to DO anything to get the Nobel Peace Prize, just talk about it. Or maybe my dog can get a medal because maybe someday he will save me from a burning building. We are still in Iraq, there’s issues with being in Afghanistan, Iran has nuclear capabilities, North Korea is still thumbing its nose at the world, and Obama gets the Peace Prize for “Hope” but no real “Change”.
If the Nobel committee were just going to give the award to a “rock star” they should have just given it to Bono for all his REAL efforts in Africa fighting AIDS and other diseases.
I am embarrassed for Nobel and Obama.
And Obama was said to be just as surprised as the rest of us. Thinking it was a joke when Rob Gibbs woke him to tell him the news.
