I have a soft spot for Queen Elizabeth. Maybe it’s her love for corgis. The herding dogs she has at her country estate. Anyone that loves corgis is good with me.
Anyways, the Queen made an appearance at the Newmarket Animal Health Trust on Thursday.
THE Queen was in the area today visiting an animal charity she has supported for 50 years.
Her Majesty’s visit to the Animal Health Trust at Kentford, near Newmarket, marked half a century as patron of the trust, which receives no direct government funding.
Supporters of the trust were among the invited guests together with civic and community leaders.
The Queen was shown the new visitors’ centre as well as a presentation on the work of the trust’s cancer centre.
She was also told about work by the trust’s experts to find a vaccine for strangles, the potentially-fatal disease which affects horses.
She previously visited the trust 15 years ago.
But today’s visit came almost a year after she made a private visit to the Newmarket area to view new facilities at Rossdales vets’ horse hospital at Exning where some of her horses are treated.
The Queen planted a tree at the event as well.
I do have to say though, that those kids are poorly dressed to meet the queen. Put some effort into it! She’s the QUEEN!
The Livestrong Army has hit NYC this weekend for the New York Marathon. No word really, if Lance Armstrong will be running again this year, though. But judging by his late night party going last night (Friday, October 30) I’d say it’s not that likely.
Lance’s BFF Matthew McConaughey has also been spotted in NYC this week. I wonder if the two Texans will be hooking horns at some point.
I wouldn’t count on any Lance and former fling, Kate Hudson sightings though. I’m just sayin’.
BTW I highly suggest that if you want to follow Lance, livestrong and livestrong’s CEO you get yourself a twitter account. They have been sending photos of their hotel rooms, as well as meetings that have been happening since they touched down in NYC.
Actor Jude Law brings two of his kids, Iris and Rudy, to work with him yesterday. And when I saw work, I mean to his New York performance of Hamlet in NYC. a How cool would it be to go to work with your dad when he’s performing on Broadway? Maybe it’s just me I’ve alwys wanted to see what the boards look like in person. I’d be in HEAVEN!
But then I’d be the kid that would pull the wrong rope and have the entire set fall down setting the theatre on fire :-/
