She performed last season, and now Katy Perry will be guest judging the contestants on Season 9 of American Idol.  Katy will be filling the chair, as well as Victoria Beckham, until there is a full time replacement for Paula Abdul.  Paula announced that she would not be returning to season 9 via her twitter page.

Even though both Katy and Posh will be filling the seat, Fox chairman of entertainment Peter Rice said that they were not “necessarily being considered for a permanent judging role”.
