George Hincapie is a Badass

george hincapie taped clavicle tour de france

Imagine you’re one of the most fit athletes in the world.  And your sport requires you to put weight and strain on your arms, and torque your frame to beat everyone else.  Now, imagine doing that for four days, with a broken collar bone.

Team Columbia-Highroad backbone, George Hincapie took a spill with only 4 days left in the  Tour de France, breaking his clavicle.  At the time he REFUSED to see a doctor provided by the tour organization.  If he had been diagnosed with the injury, he would have been pulled from the race.

As for what it was like to race with the injury, Hincapie said

“It did hurt,”…“It was really bad in the mornings when I woke up … and, on the bike, it would hurt whenever I hit any kind of bump in the road.”

And as for the final stage on the Champs-Élysées which is all cobbled?

“With seven laps (of the 6.5km circuit) to go, it was really hurting a lot,” he said. “But on the last lap, I was fired up and I didn’t notice it all that much.”

It wasn’t until July 28th that George finally saw the doctor, getting x-rayed, diagnosing what we all knew. He sent out a note on Twitter, with a picture. Might I say? OUCH! Look at that thing, that’s not just a break, that’s a draw bridge!

Get better Hincapie, we all want to see you on the Tour of Missouri. Just don’t push it, ok?

Gerard Says Gamer Makes 300 Look Like a Walk in the Park

Gerard Butler The Bounty 3

Still filming the movie “The Bounty”, Gerard Butler was spotted making a dash up some stairs in New York.

I’m sure that kind of “stunt” isn’t anything like the ones he had to do for “Gamer”, a new action packed movie coming out this year.

“It makes ‘300′ look like a walk in the park, “ Butler said of the film that merges online gaming culture with a plot that might remind some fans of futuristic gladiator fantasy of The Running Man. “It exists in a world where gaming and technology have melded into one and morality has gone out the window.”

“It feels,” he said, “like the coolest art-house action film.”

I can’t wait to see more of this! And by this, I mean both The Bounty and Gamer.

Scarlett Johansson to play Marilyn Monroe?

scarlett johansson DG london 2

Just what the world needs, ANOTHER movie about Marilyn Monroe.  Sigh.

It has been announced that a new Marilyn based movie, My Week With Marilyn, will be in production soon, and Scarlett Johansson is one of the names being battered about to play Norma Jean.  The movie will be based on her time in London while filming The Prince and the Showgirl with Laurence Olivier.

It is based partly on the diary of Colin Clark, brother of politician and writer Alan Clark, who worked for Olivier.

Clark later published the diary about his time with Marilyn during the making of the film. But, said Parfitt, there were details of one week which were missing from the diary.

‘Once everyone else was dead, Clark had arranged for the missing week to be issued,’ he explained.

Clark died in 2002. The diary tells of Clark showing Marilyn around the Queen’s private apartments at Windsor. With Arthur Miller, her then husband, away in Paris, he had to keep her company.

Marilyn was in her 30s when she filmed the movie, so Scarlett may be too young. Other actresses said to be considered? Michelle Williams, Amy Adams and Kate Hudson.

Quote of the day: Chris Isaak

“But I should say that I, and the rest of entertainers, don’t know a god-durned nothing about policies. We’re too busy self-aggrandizing to come up with any solutions. It’s amazing how many entertainers can find time between adopting children to tell you how to live your life.”

Katie Holmes NOT joining Sex and the City

She may be singing dancing, and now acting all over the world, but don’t expect Katie Holmes to be joining the Sex and the City women in Manhattan. It was reported that Katie would be joining the cast as a thorn in Samantha’s side.

“The character they want her to play is a really ballsy, high-powered company executive who tangles with Samantha.”

Unfortunately for those looking forward to Katie playing a bad ass in the role, you’ll just have to dream. Both the reps for Katie and Sarah Jessica Parker said that there was “no truth” behind the rumor.
