I’m in a totally touchy feely mood this weekend, so in addition to the puppies (PUPPIES!!!) I LOVE this penguin. The Daily Mail tells us about little baby Pingu, who’s at the zoo in Torquay, Devon UK, was pushed out of his family after his piggy of a sibling started eating all the food!
So the caretakers scooped up the little African Penguin, and started feeding it themselves. But the little thing got lonely! So the keepers ran down to the zoo’s gift shop and bought Pingu a new mommy.
‘The cuddly penguin toy is something for the chick to cosy up to and be comforted by – a surrogate family for the time being.’ Pingu is living in a snug den made out of foam matting and towels with a shelter to imitate a normal burrow.
Since then, little Pingu has put on weight and is doing well. It also has a little stuffed puffin as a friend.
