When I arrived at her palatial Los Angeles estate, I was surprised to find that I had only an hour with her before her trainer arrived—plenty of time to conduct your standard celebrity interview—but I’d assumed that once I arrived, my meticulously prepared questions would be thrown by the wayside as we curled up in her bed to watch Dancing With the Stars.
I’m not really into tennis, but since Maria Sharapvoa and her dog, Dolce, have been doing those Canon camera commercials, I really enjoy seeing her. And what do you know, she won the Australian Open! Congrats to you Maria…. and your little dog, too!
Sharapova wished her mother, Yelena, a happy birthday and told her how she planned to spend some of her $1,207,790 prize money.
“With this big fat check, I’m going to send you a bunch of roses,” she said. “Last year I lost on her birthday and this year I said I’m going to make it up to her, and I did.”
Sharapova said she “wasn’t even close to winning last year.”
“It’s incredible. If somebody would’ve told me during the middle of last year I’d be here I’d have said ’forget it.”’
After passing earlier this week, sales of Heath Ledger’s movies have increased.
Three of the actor’s films – 10 Things I Hate About You, A Knight’s Tale, and Brokeback Mountain – entered Amazon.com’s top 25 best-selling DVDs since his death on Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.
Ledger’s death has also sparked interest in The Dark Knight, a Batman film due out this summer starring the actor as the Joker. The AP reports over the film’s trailer has been viewed over seven million times on YouTube.
