In light of the low saving rate of those in Japan, a toy company has come out with a creative idea. Toy manufacturer TOMY Co Ltd has designed a piggy bank BOMB that explodes if you don’t feed it on a regular basis. Forget to put in a few coins, and BANG! Coins go everywhere!!
The battery-powered toy — designed as a cartoon-style, ball-shaped black bomb with a skull and crossbones logo — lights up, makes a noise, shakes violently and scatters coins if it is not topped up for a long time.
“Users must pick up and collect the scattered coins and reflect on their laziness,” the Japanese company said.
I love the idea of this, as I have a piggy bank in my living room near the door. But would it work in the US???
